We help customers use energy more productively, reduce carbon emissions, and operate with the precision and resilience required in rapidly expanding industries such as data centers, healthcare, pharmaceuticals, advanced manufacturing, and higher education.
Role Overview
As an Engineering Technician, you will support the analysis, testing, troubleshooting, and repair of Johnson Controls BAS products and related test equipment. You will work with supervision or engineering guidance, help document daily work activities, maintain laboratory equipment, and collaborate closely with engineering teams to resolve complex product issues and improve product performance.
Key Responsibilities
  • Analyze, test, troubleshoot, and repair new or existing Johnson Controls BAS products.
  • Formulate work execution plans and methods for assigned tasks.
  • Document daily work activities and maintain accurate records of work performed.
  • Maintain laboratory equipment in safe, proper working condition.
  • Provide technical training when required.
  • Work directly with engineering teams on complex product issues and provide clear status updates to your supervisor and lead technician.
  • Provide analysis on Johnson Controls products to original design and manufacturing engineers.
  • Support corporate and plant engineering teams by sharing feedback that helps improve current and future products.
  • Construct assemblies, test circuits, and test fixtures.
  • Read and understand engineering and manufacturing schematics.
  • Troubleshoot and repair in-house test fixtures and restore them to original condition.
  • Assemble new production parts, including panel assemblies.
  • Maintain the work area and equipment in a clean, safe, and proper working condition.
  • Work with outside vendors to obtain information, parts, or equipment and help implement corrective action.
  • Provide technical product support to field teams, end users, and internal service providers requiring complex troubleshooting.

How You Will Do It
  • You will own assigned work with accountability, safety, and integrity, keeping your team informed when issues or risks arise.
  • You will stay close to the work by using hands-on troubleshooting, schematics, and test results to solve problems efficiently and remove obstacles for customers and engineering partners.
  • You will improve every day by documenting findings clearly, sharing product feedback, and using practical problem-solving to strengthen product quality and test processes.
  • You will work as one team with engineering, manufacturing, vendors, and field support by communicating openly and valuing different perspectives.
  • You will maintain a disciplined lab environment, keep equipment in standard condition, and follow safe working practices in all daily activities.

Qualifications
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a technical field, or an Associate's Degree in a relevant area.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision at the start of a new assignment and with very little supervision thereafter.
  • Strong oral, written, and listening communication skills.
  • Ability to solder.
  • Ability to use the tools and materials required for hardware, software, and manufacturing work.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering and manufacturing schematics.
  • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs.
