Job Description
Broad Function and Purpose of Position:
The Process Engineer designs, implements, and optimizes industrial processes to improve efficiency, product quality, and safety in manufacturing or production environments for all new and existing products in the facility. The goal is to achieve high quality standards at lowest cost, utilizing available resources (raw materials, equipment, and personnel). These improvements will be achieved through process definition, innovation, cross functional work, and cooperation with all levels of the organization.
Specific Responsibilities:
  • Work with local experts to determine "best practices" and document those practices and procedures.
  • Improve production, quality, and material handling efficiency through the design of process definition, optimization and controls.
  • Monitoring and optimizing equipment performance and reliability and reduce downtime.
  • Identifying inefficiencies, bottlenecks, and areas for process optimization.
  • Reduce production complexity.
  • Ensuring compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory standards.
  • Implement strategy, processes and activities related to capital budgeting and plan implementation.
  • Recommend equipment improvements by providing specifications and/or requirements and controlling these recommendations through to completion.
  • Determine and improve process capabilities by using statistical techniques to meet or exceed customer needs.
  • Create, update, and implement plant procedures, electronic recipes, work instructions and train employees, as necessary. Develop in-process tests and requirements.
  • Troubleshoot problems and establish root cause analysis to develop the implementation of corrective and preventive actions.
  • Leader or key member of project and process teams and collaborating with cross-functional teams, including Maintenance, Controls, Quality Assurance, and production staff
  • May perform other projects or assignments as required.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, industrial engineering with a minimum of 5 years' experience in manufacturing, and process optimization.
  • Strong understanding of statistical process control, statistics, and customer integration.
  • Leadership skills to drive projects and process teams to successful fruition.
  • Strong customer base and quality focus. Data driven.
  • Effective communication skills. Capable of interfacing with cross-functional departments toward a common goal.
  • Ability to work in a team environment with focus on the shop floor.
  • Strong hands-on commitment. Passionate attitude with an innovative mind frame.
  • Practical knowledge and experience with creating SOPs, PFMEAs, Control Plans, Process Flow Diagrams. Strong understanding of automated control systems and P&IDs.
  • Highly proficient in MS Excel, MS Word, MS PowerPoint, MS Visio, and MS Project.
  • Strong computer skills a must.
  • Experience with Automotive OEM customers, delivering presentations, ISO & IATF standards, and internal or external auditing preferred but not required.
  • Some domestic and/or international travel may be required.
  • Flexibility to occasionally support a 24/7 manufacturing plant on off-shifts and weekends.
