Key Responsibilities:

  • Work with the Project Manager for successful project execution.
  • Design water and wastewater facilities including pumping stations, storage facilities and treatment plants.
  • Prepare and review design calculations, engineering drawings, specifications, cost estimate, and technical evaluations and reports for various water and wastewater facility projects.
  • Maintain accurate records of design calculations, reports, and correspondencePerform site assessments and feasibility studies
  • Provide technical direction or supervision to junior engineers-in-training and BIM/CAD technicians, or other technical personnel.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, including preparing permit applications and obtaining necessary approvals
  • Construction administration and engineering services (submittal review, contract document interpretation, requests for information, shop drawing reviews, correspondence, and change orders), as required
  • Communicate and coordinate with clients, utility owners, project teams including other engineering disciplines, designers and subconsultants
  • Comply with all KCI policies and procedures.
  • Complete all tasks on time and within budget while fully meeting project scope.

Work Experience:

  • Proficiency with BIM and CAD design platforms, specifically Autodesk Revit and AutoCAD.
  • Experience in process system design including pump head loss calculations and pump selection, treatment plant head losses, chemical system design, process equipment system design and similar systems.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously while meeting tight project deadlines
  • Ability to work as part of a collaborative, multi-discipline design team with the initiative to work independently and take on additional projects as needed
  • Ability to conduct field work at existing facilities to gather information for reports and designs.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated proficiency in organization and presentation of documentation
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office including Word, Outlook, Teams, Excel, and Powerpoint is required. Experience with Microsoft Project is preferred.

Education and/or Work Experience Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or related field.
  • Five (5) or more years of project experience in the study, design and engineering of water and wastewater facilities and related projects
  • Proven experience in planning, organizing, estimating, scheduling and monitoring engineering projects.
  • Proven experience in project management roles, with a track record of successful project delivery.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with clients, team members, and stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of industry standards and best practices related to construction management, quality assurance, and safety protocols.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify issues and implement effective solutions in a fast-paced environment.

Education and/or Work Experience Preferred

  • Master’s Degree

Certificates, licenses, and/or Registrations Required:

  • Licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.)
