Job description

SUMMARY
BFS engineers are given the opportunity to explore and support a variety of areas in an engineering role at an aviation
company. BFS Engineers need a problem solving mindset and have wide ranging responsibilities spanning from
conceptualizing and substantiating repairs for components, certification activities, clean sheet tooling/equipment
builds, or reviewing processing certification from repaired components. This position requires excellent
communication, problem solving skills, and a strong CAD skillset.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO):
- Assist with developing new repairs, alteration, or configuration changes across a range of aircraft systems
- Assume responsibility for small to medium projects from start to finish
- Ensure compliance when applicable with repair criteria or other published limitations
- Inspect, support and accomplish limited repair functions under BFS' Part 145 repair station
- Developing models and 2D dimensioned prints ranging from simple to complex
- Assist with mathematical analysis and computations for repair and certification projects
- Review and develop documents including repair procedures, repair substantiations and certification project
documents
- Design, order and integrate tooling and testing equipment
- Liaison between engineering and other groups at BFS to support projects or initiate new ones
Requirements
SKILLS AND ABILITIES (MINIMUM)
- Possess and demonstrates integrity throughout all interactions and functions at BFS
- Possesses foundational engineering concepts through undergraduate level education or equivalent aviation
experience
- Acquires fundamental knowledge and develops skills in a specific practice area through mentored experience
- Applies learned knowledge and skills to perform assigned tasks and tasks as part of a broader assignment
- Performs routine technical work which does not require previous experience
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE (MINIMUM)
- Bachelor's degree in an engineering field (electrical, mechanical, or engineering technology degree) or
equivalent industry experience
- (Preferred) Passion for aviation
- (Preferred) Hands-on experience with aviation quality or supplier interface.
- (Preferred) Experience with 14 CFR Part 21, 43, 29/27, 23/25 regulations and design criteria
- (Preferred) Professional experience in a AS9110 / AS9100 / ISO 9001 environment
