What You’ll Be Doing
As a Process Engineer I, you will contribute to project deliverables under direct guidance from senior engineers and project leads while developing foundational skills essential to pharmaceutical and biopharmaceutical facility design.
Engineering amp; Technical Support
• Assist in the design and implementation of manufacturing processes (e.g., biological, API, oral solid dosage, cell therapy, aseptic processing/filling) and supporting systems (e.g., clean utilities, CIP, buffer/media prep, waste inactivation/treatment).
• Support senior engineers in preparing key engineering deliverables, including process flow diagrams, P amp;IDs, equipment lists, specifications, and technical reports.
• Participate in process simulations to gain exposure to optimization techniques and operational efficiencies.
Foundational Skill Development
• Learn document control practices, including revision history, accuracy, and traceability of engineering deliverables.
• Develop an understanding of project phases and how deliverables progress in complexity and detail.
• Learn how to organize engineering documents to clearly reflect background, design intent, assumptions, analysis, and conclusions.
Process Documentation amp; Coordination
• Assist with P amp;ID development, including back‑checking, redlining, and creating associated valve and line lists.
• Collaborate with other disciplines to ensure P amp;ID consistency and clarity.
• Support development and maintenance of equipment lists, including vendor coordination and organizing cut sheets.
Technical Analysis amp; Calculations
• Review existing engineering calculations to understand technical justification.
• Develop basic engineering calculations under guidance.
• Understand how detailed calculations ensure safety and efficiency.
Regulatory amp; Compliance Exposure
• Learn fundamentals of pharmaceutical regulatory and industry standards (e.g., FDA, ISPE, ASTM, BPE).
• Support activities ensuring compliance with evolving regulations and best practices.
Minimum Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related discipline.
• 2-4 years of experience; co‑op or internship experience welcome.
• Intermediate to advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks, work under pressure, and adjust to changing priorities.
Preferred Qualifications
• Exposure to pharmaceutical, biotech, life science, or laboratory environments.
• Experience with P amp;IDs, equipment documentation, or technical calculations.
• Interest in pursuing Professional Engineer (P.E.) licensure.
