Position Purpose

Provides leadership, direction, and development for the engineering team while maintaining active involvement in engineering execution and project delivery. Responsible for ensuring the timely delivery of technically sound engineering solutions that meet company standards, customer requirements, and project commitments. Supports the growth and development of engineers and interns to build organizational capability, technical expertise, and future talent while promoting consistency with established engineering standards, approved solutions, and strategic system direction.

Position Responsibilities
  • Engineering Execution
    • Actively participate in engineering design and solution development for HVAC/P projects
    • Serve as a technical resource for complex or non-routine engineering work
    • Review engineering deliverables for technical accuracy, completeness, and alignment with established practices, codes, and standards
    • Support estimating and proposal development as required
    • Escalate complex, high-risk, or first-of-kind technical challenges to Chief Engineers to ensure appropriate technical leadership and alignment
  • Engineering Team Development
    • Develop engineers and interns through daily technical coaching, feedback, structured learning, and execution of training plans
    • Evaluate team capability, identify development needs, and support ongoing performance improvement
  • Project & Work Execution Support
    • Ensure assigned engineering work is completed accurately, on time, and with accountability to commitments
    • Support coordination of engineering activities with internal teams (estimating, drafting, operations, etc.)
    • Assist in resolving technical issues and removing execution barriers
    • Ensure engineering work aligns with defined deliverable process
  • Engineering Resource Coordination
    • Support leadership in workload distribution across engineering staff and execution alignment
    • Provide input on capacity constraints and staffing needs
    • Assist in prioritization of work based on direction from leadership
    • Support timely response to internal and external engineering requests
  • Customer & Sales Support
    • Provide technical support to Sales and customers as needed
    • Participate in meetings, presentations, and technical discussion
    • Support early definition of technical scope, assumptions, requirements, and deliverables so work entering engineering is clear, executable, and aligned with customer expectations
  • Engineering Process & Standards
    • Follow and reinforce established engineering processes, standards, and systems
    • Reinforce compliance with engineering documentation requirements and established standards
    • Support continuous improvement by identifying gaps and providing feedback on engineering practices
  • Support and maintain a safe and Lean work environment
  • Other duties as assigned
Summary of Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering required; equivalent combination of education and 10+ years of related industry experience may be considered.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in industrial HVAC and piping systems.
  • Self-motivated leader who demonstrates initiative, accountability, and ownership while driving projects and team objectives to successful completion.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively coach, mentor, and provide technical direction to team members and stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational, planning, and prioritization skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and coordinate team workloads in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proven ability to develop engineers and interns through coaching, technical mentorship, performance feedback, and structured learning opportunities.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to make sound decisions, overcome obstacles, and support effective project execution.
  • Working knowledge of mechanical systems, HVAC and piping applications, and industry best practices.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and apply construction drawings, specifications, and technical documents.
  • General understanding of construction industry practices, project delivery methods, and engineering workflows.
  • Lean manufacturing, continuous improvement, or related training/certifications preferred.
