Role Summary
Facilities & Engineering Intern
The Facilities & Engineering Intern supports Engineering, Facilities, and Workplace Operations activities across the organization. This position provides hands-on experience in engineering data administration, maintenance planning support, work order management, field assessments, and Integrated Workplace Management System (IWMS) administration.
The ideal candidate is currently pursuing a degree in Architecture, Engineering, Facility Management, Maintenance Planning, Procurement, Construction Management, or a related discipline and is interested in developing practical experience in facilities and engineering operations.
Main Tasks
Engineering Data Administration
  • Maintain, update, and validate engineering, asset, and facilities-related data.
  • Support data-quality reviews and help ensure accuracy across systems.
  • Assist with organizing equipment records, drawings, specifications, and maintenance documentation.
  • Create and maintain reports, dashboards, and performance-tracking metrics.

Site Walkthroughs and Facility Assessments
  • Participate in facility inspections and site walkthroughs.
  • Collect and verify building, space, equipment, and infrastructure data.
  • Document observations, deficiencies, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Support facility-condition assessments and asset-inventory activities.

Requirements Gathering
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Facilities, Maintenance, Procurement, and business stakeholders to collect operational requirements.
  • Assist with documenting facility, maintenance, and system-related processes.
  • Support continuous-improvement initiatives through data collection and stakeholder engagement.

Data Collection, Analysis, and Manipulation
  • Gather data from various internal systems and sources.
  • Clean, organize, validate, and analyze datasets.
  • Develop spreadsheets, reports, and presentations to support decision-making.
  • Identify trends, inconsistencies, and opportunities for operational improvement.

Work Order Management
  • Support the creation, tracking, and closure of maintenance work orders.
  • Monitor work-order progress and help ensure documentation remains accurate and complete.
  • Assist with preventive-maintenance scheduling and tracking.
  • Coordinate with service providers and internal stakeholders as needed.

IWMS/CMMS Administration
  • Provide administrative support for the Integrated Workplace Management System (IWMS) and/or Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
  • Enter, update, and maintain asset, maintenance, and space-management data.
  • Support system testing, user support, reporting, and process documentation.
  • Assist with system enhancements and data-migration projects.

Qualifications
Required
  • Currently enrolled in an Associate's, Bachelor's, or Master's degree program in one of the following areas:
    • Architecture
    • Architectural Engineering
    • Engineering, including Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, Industrial, or a related discipline
    • Facility Management
    • Construction Management
    • Maintenance Planning
    • Procurement or Supply Chain Management
    • A related field
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
  • Ability to manage and analyze data accurately and with strong attention to detail.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.

Preferred
  • Familiarity with facilities management, maintenance operations, or engineering processes.
  • Experience with IWMS, CMMS, ERP, or work-order management systems.
  • Knowledge of data-management and reporting tools.
  • Experience conducting site surveys, asset inventories, or facility assessments.
