Job description


The Senior Process Engineer works as a technical expert on the successful delivery of projects for clients as a member of a project team within a market program (Asset Integrity Management Services). This includes providing technical expertise to the project manager and project team members with initiating, planning, executing, monitoring and controlling and closing projects.
Schedule and Location:
  • The position has a hybrid work schedule consisting of Tuesday through Thursday in the office. Monday and Friday provide the option to work remotely or from the office.
  • This open role is located at our modern ten-story corporate headquarters in Spring, Texas.

What You Will Do:
  • Plan, conduct and supervise engineering design reviews and analysis assignments involving a major project or several smaller ones.
    • Applies conventional knowledge in a particular field of engineering.
    • Review project plans to understand the scope, schedule and assigned work.
    • Prepare written documents, reports and presentations.
    • Develop understanding of the technical requirements and challenges and provide suggested opportunities of the business to formulate opportunities to enhance effectiveness and efficiency on assigned projects, in day-to-day job tasks, and amongst team members.
    • Provide hands-on technical expertise to support execution of project tasks, including:
      • Development and review of Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs) and Piping & Instrument Diagrams (P&IDs)
      • Review and interpretation of material and energy balances
      • Review and interpretation of process equipment sizing and specifications
      • Performance or review of hydraulic calculations and pipe sizing
    • Support and participate in process safety and risk management activities, including:
      • Process Hazard Analysis (HAZOP), What If, FMEA, risk assessments, and root cause analyses
      • Participation in Process Safety Management (PSM) activities
      • Leading or supporting electrical hazardous area classification (EHAC) studies
      • Participation in Damage Mechanism Assessments and Corrosion Control Programs
    • Perform or review pressure relief device (PRD) and relief valve sizing, specification, and documentation in accordance with applicable codes and standards.
    • Participate in client and team meetings.
    • Track and accurately report hours spent on projects
    • Work with individuals at all levels, provide input to reports and other deliverables, execute multiple assignments, meet agreed deadlines, and adjust to changing client demands.
    • Perform quality assurance on project deliverables.
  • Serve as a mentor/coach to junior engineers and actively hone technical skills in others.

What You Will Need:
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering required (Chemical preferred); Advanced degree preferred
  • 6+ years of relevant professional experience
  • Professional certification preferred
  • Experience in a plant environment and/or within a consulting services organization preferred

  • Ability to coach others on development and customer intimacy and new opportunities

  • Must understand departmental goals and hold themselves and team members accountable for keeping commitments and high standards
  • Must be dependable and consistent
  • Ability to demonstrate independent, objective, open-minded thinking with strong attention to detail and sound judgment
  • Must be an effective multi-tasker utilizing proficient time management skills
  • Working knowledge of the ABS Health, Safety, Quality and Environmental Management System
  • This role will involve approximately 30% travel
