Electrical Engineer - Senior
***This position requires an active TS/Sensitive Compartmental Information (SCI) clearance or the ability to obtain a Counterintelligence polygraph to be considered. ***
A government contract requires that this position be restricted to provide documentation that you are a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident to qualify.
Cherokee Strategic Edge is seeking Electrical Engineers to provide support to defense analytical requirements.
Compensation & Benefits:
Pay commensurate with experience.
Estimated Starting Salary Range forElectrical Engineer - Senior: $150,000 - $170,000. Pay commensurate with experience.

Electrical Engineer - Senior Responsibilities Include:
  • Architect electro-mechanical design concepts in support of customer requirements
  • Develop software and hardware devices and create detailed specifications
  • Participate in product design reviews as both a technical assessor and presenter
  • Electronics design from schematic capture, PCB layout, to test planning and implementation
  • Test and troubleshoot prototypes and provide customer technical support
  • Lead the development activities, including requirements gathering, concept development, hardware design, component selection, schematic design, circuit board layout, prototyping, and product integration testing
  • Develop system designs to optimize product size, weight, power and cost
  • Support and maintain existing products
  • Key member of the Engineering and Development team
  • Collaborate wand implement designs with other project team members
  • Understand circuit schematics and electronic component datasheets
  • Work closely with software engineers, product managers, and vendors to ensure successful project coordination and integration
  • Validate design by simulations and tests on a prototype level
  • Translate user and customer needs into documented technical specifications
  • Conduct technology feasibility studies as needed
  • Design test fixtures and documented test processes
  • Liaise with multidisciplinary team members, customers, and suppliers
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned

Electrical Engineer - Senior Experience, Education, Skills, Abilities requested:
  • Active TS/SCI with the willingness and ability to obtain a Counterintelligence polygraph
  • Bachelor's degree in electro-mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or mechanical engineering
  • 5+ years of experience as a mechanical or electro-mechanical engineer or equivalent
  • Three years of experience as a mechanical or electro-mechanical engineer or equivalent
  • Three years of experience in electronic systems design
  • Experience in 3D computer-aided design (CAD) modeling tools (Siemens NX, Teamcenter, and SAP R3)
  • Ability to design mechanical concepts, have a pragmatic attitude, and capability to translate concepts into practical designs that meet specified requirements
  • Familiar with Agile engineering process
  • Experience in multi-layer PCB design and microelectronic components
  • Proven background in embedded C or C derived language development for microcontrollers
  • Comprehensive Knowledge of full design lifecycle including specification design, test and documentation
  • Excellent proficiency in component level fault finding
  • High/low temperature electronics design
  • Precision soldering
  • Competent in the design and simulation of analog and digital electronics
  • Proficient in schematic capture (i.e. Altium) and PCB layout
  • Ability to read blueprints, schematics, assembly drawings and wire lists
  • Ability to use measuring devices such as calipers, micrometers and scales
  • Circuit layout tools: high density PCB layout: test equipment including oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, protocol analyzers, and multimeters
  • Testing and troubleshooting software, embedded system using C/C++, PCB layout
  • Embedded software development
  • Low power design (for battery powered devices)
  • Familiar with RF communications and micro-electronic antenna technology
  • Electro-mechanical assembly skills
  • Use of GITLAB, engineering design and drawings (SolidWorks) MATLAB, or similar engineering tools
  • Documentation and technical writing skills
