Job Description 

Reporting to Finance Director, the Financial Analyst placement supports the business in compiling and creating financial reports, presentations, and analysis.

Position Responsibilities

  • Compile and prepare monthly reconciliations, reports and presentations.
  • Prepare any ad-hoc reporting and presentations and support management on any ad-hoc financial analysis.
  • Assist in budgeting and forecasting relative to Income Statement, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flows
  • Assist and Execute month-end activities for closing the accounting periods in a timely manner.
  • Assist in Financial Analysis of monthly results and provide commentary explaining the variances against forecast, budget, and prior year performance.
  • Assist in budgeting with respect to financial indicators Qualitative and quantitative analysis of budgets, forecasts, actual results, and Ad Hoc projects to assist in management's review and decision making.
  • Assist in gathering and reconciling fixed and mobile asset counts
  • Review routine and complex business transactions to identify relevant accounting and reporting requirements.
  • Gather and complete the necessary planning/budgeting reports to be submitted to Corporate.
  • Positively interface with Corporate Finance Team
  • Other ad-hoc duties as required

Requirements

  • Working towards degree with specialization in accounting or business administration.
  • Currently student must be enrolled and actively pursuing studies at a recognized educational institution. 
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to manipulate large data sets, demonstrate critical thinking in producing various analyses and tables, as well as develop charts/graphs in both Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Proven understanding of financial statements, and proven knowledge of financial analysis, variance analysis, and forecasting.
  • Excellent attention to detail, accuracy, and ability to self-review.
  • Ability to adapt to versatile deliverables/analyses and demonstrate logic/reasoning.
  • Exhibit strong time management skills, ability to perform under pressure in a fast-paced environment with ad-hoc deliverables.
  • Strong communication, writing, and presentation skills.
  • Desire to learn and be involved in a variety of ad-hoc projects and changing reporting needs.
  • Previous Construction Materials Accounting experience is considered an asset.
