Job description

To provide Industrial and Process Engineering support to forward and reverse logistics, and testing of telecom related product ranges, to ensure production targets are met to agreed time, efficiency, cost and quality requirements are achieved. Responsible for determining most effective ways to create a product or service. Develops ways to increase productivity, maximize efficiency, and manage human capital more effectively.
The Industrial Engineering Intern will be responsible for planning, designing, and implementing production and service delivery systems that assure performance, reliability, maintainability, schedule adherence and cost control within production sites. The IE Intern will adopt as its goals profitability, effectiveness, adaptability, responsiveness, quality, and the continuous improvement of products and services throughout their life cycles.  The ideal candidate will possess the ability to analyze data sets to provide solutions benefiting the business.  A strong emphasis will be placed on the candidates ability to execute times and motion studies and support continuous improvement efforts though the use of process flow mapping and Computer Aided Design.
Essential Functions:
  • Develop most efficient ways to use people, machines, materials, information, and energy to make a product or service.
  • Help increase productivity by standardization of methods, workstations and man to machine interactions.
  • Optimize methods of Operations organization.
  • Study product requirements, design manufacturing and information systems to meet requirements.
  • Perform mathematical calculations to determine manufacturing processes.
  • Perform time studies on manual, semi-automated and automated processes
  • Perform Gauge R&R (as applicable)
  • Perform Takt time calculations.
  • Improve ways to distribute goods and services.
  • Resolve production problems.
  • Design layout of equipment and workspace.
  • Estimate production costs.
  • Evaluate accuracy of production and testing equipment.
  • Study and rearrange material flow and operations sequence.
  • Develop Process Flow Charts, Process Control Plans and FMEA

Secondary Functions:
  • Working with the program team, may interface with the customer including providing inputs to technical presentations, telecoms, formal reviews, etc.
  • May contribute to designs that further advances Statistical Process Control (SPC), CPK error analysis tools and features.

  • HS Diploma
  • 2+ years of College Courses completed
  • Full Time Student
  • Pursuing Industrial Engineering or similar technical degree
  • Auto-Cad 2D or 3D or equivalent a plus.  


Skills and Qualifications: 
  • The candidate should have written and verbal skills with core technical competencies 
  • An excellent understanding of measurement and engineering principles, and equipment 
  • An excellent understanding of Industrial Engineering principles and process knowledge
  • Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Project all necessary to manage objectives
