Process Control Intern information

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Process Control Intern, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Process Control Intern, you need a foundational understanding of process engineering, automation, and data analysis, typically supported by coursework in chemical, electrical, or mechanical engineering. Familiarity with process control systems (such as DCS or PLCs), simulation software, and statistical analysis tools is highly valuable. Strong analytical thinking, attention to detail, and effective communication skills help interns collaborate with teams and accurately interpret process data. These skills and qualities are essential for ensuring safe, efficient, and optimized operations in industrial environments.

What types of projects and responsibilities can a Process Control Intern expect to work on during their internship?

As a Process Control Intern, you can expect to participate in a variety of hands-on projects, such as assisting with the development and optimization of automated control systems, analyzing process data to identify areas for improvement, and supporting troubleshooting efforts alongside engineers. Interns often have opportunities to work with distributed control systems (DCS), programmable logic controllers (PLC), and industrial instrumentation. You'll collaborate closely with experienced process engineers, operations staff, and sometimes IT specialists, gaining practical experience in real-world manufacturing or industrial environments. These experiences are designed to help you build technical skills and understand the workflow of process control teams.

What are Process Control Interns?

Process Control Interns are students or early-career professionals who assist in monitoring, evaluating, and optimizing industrial processes within manufacturing or production environments. They work under the guidance of experienced engineers to collect data, troubleshoot control systems, and support process improvement projects. This role provides hands-on experience with automation technologies, control systems (such as PLCs and DCS), and process analysis. Interns often help ensure that production processes are efficient, safe, and meet quality standards while learning valuable industry skills.

About Camelback Compounding: Camelback Compounding Pharmacy has been in business since 1985. Located in the heart of Arcadia in the Camelback Village Shopping Center, we serve patients throughout all of Arizona. Specializing in non-sterile compounding, we take pride in our ability to provide high quality compounded prescriptions in a timely fashion while providing the highest levels of service to both the patients and providers we serve.
Position Overview: Camelback Compounding Pharmacy is seeking a motivated pharmacy intern to join our specialized compounding team. This position offers hands-on experience in non-sterile compounding, patient care, and pharmacy operations while working under the direct supervision of licensed pharmacists. We are looking for someone to work Saturdays (9am to 1pm) and additional hours during the week depending on school schedule.
Key Responsibilities: Under pharmacist supervision, the intern will assist with non-sterile compounding and specialized dosage forms. You'll support prescription processing from intake through preparation, production and labeling. Patient and health provider interactions are core components, involving consultations on compounded medications, proper usage instructions, and addressing questions about custom formulations.
The role includes maintaining and cleaning compounding equipment according to USP standards, documenting batch records and quality control measures, and managing inventory for compounding supplies and raw materials. You'll also support general pharmacy operations including prescription filling, shipping, customer service, and payment processing.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must be currently enrolled in an accredited Doctor of Pharmacy program and possess a valid Arizona pharmacy intern license. We seek individuals with excellent attention to detail and work ethic, strong communication skills for patient/provider interaction, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment. Basic computer proficiency and willingness to learn specialized compounding software are essential.
Preferred Qualifications Previous pharmacy or healthcare experience, coursework in pharmaceutics or compounding, familiarity with USP compounding standards, and bilingual capabilities are advantageous.
What We Offer This position provides comprehensive training in non-sterile compounding techniques, mentorship from experienced compounding pharmacists, and exposure to diverse patient populations with specialized medication needs. We offer flexible scheduling to accommodate academic requirements, competitive compensation, 401k plan, and potential for continued employment upon graduation and licensure.
Physical Requirements The role requires extended periods of standing, precise manual dexterity for compounding procedures, and ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
Camelback Compounding Pharmacy is committed to providing personalized pharmaceutical care through innovative compounding solutions. Join our team to gain valuable experience in this specialized field while contributing to improved patient and provider outcomes.
To apply, please submit your resume and cover letter.
