Job Description
Senior Quality Control Technician
The Senior Quality Control Technician is responsible for quality control activities supporting operations at three facilities. This includes adhering to health, safety, and environmental guidelines, testing samples, generating reports, maintaining instruments and equipment, validating methods and instruments, complying to the ISO 9001 standard, and communicating with a variety of internal groups.
This role is on-site in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and reports to the Quality Control Lab Supervisor.
The Senior Quality Control Technician has a 12-hour rotating shift schedule with the following pattern:
  • Week 1 - Mon, Tues, Fri, Sat: 6 am until 6 pm
  • Week 2 - Sun, Wed, Thurs: 6 am until 6 pm
  • Week 3 - Mon, Tues, Fri, Sat: 6 pm until 6 am
  • Week 4 - Sun, Wed, Thurs: 6 pm until 6 am

Modifications to shift times are sometimes needed based on production demands.
Responsibilities
  • Perform testing using both routine and special techniques.
  • Analyze and process standard reference materials, raw material samples, in-process samples, and final product samples within expected turnaround time.
  • Record results of tests, organize data, perform basic computations, and prepare reports using procedures and guidelines.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot instruments and equipment.
  • Complete calibrations and standardizations.
  • Communicate effectively with operations, process technology staff, engineers, and other personnel.
  • Participate in required safety programs, including working safely and maintaining a clean and orderly lab environment.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in chemistry, or another science, technology, engineering, or mathematics field
  • 4+ years experience working in a lab setting
  • Ability to work 12 hour rotating shifts to include days, nights, weekends, and holidays.

Physical Requirements and Environment
  • Must be willing to handle hazardous materials and chemical waste while following all safety protocols.
  • Must be willing to wear PPE (personal protective equipment) including but not limited to hard hat, protective eyewear, and steel-toed boots.
  • Work 12 hour rotating shifts to include days, nights, weekends, and holidays.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working in a manufacturing lab environment
  • Experience with Nuclear Magnetic Resonance spectroscopy (NMR)
  • Experience with Inductively Coupled Plasma Optical Emission spectroscopy (ICP-OES)
  • Experience with chromatography
  • Experience with a variety of titration techniques
  • ISO 9001 standard experience
