General Description

The Process Engineer is responsible for setting up and keeping stable production processes with the goal of extending lights-out liquid injection molding, driving continuous improvement in a highly-automated liquid silicone injection molding facility with single and 2-shot machines.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

  • Reduce the Production and QA cost (rejects, material, cycle time, labor...)
  • Interface with Production, Engineering, Quality, and customers and suppliers to achieve program objectives
  • Interface with customers and suppliers to resolve quality issues. Work with the Quality department to identify nonconformities, recommend and implement solutions, and halt processing until corrections are made to prevent further occurrence.
  • Develop, recommend, and implement corrective action to improve scrap and efficiencies
  • Study job setups on presses and auxiliary equipment, and recommend improvements
  • Trouble-shoot current process for potential improvements
  • Determine and establish robust parameters for processing of all tools and jobs and meet quality standards at quoted cost
  • Plan trials or sequence of trials (scheduling, manpower, materials, and process changes) for equipment changes.
  • Perform new tool sampling and/or conduct tool handovers at outside sources
  • Coordinate equipment changes and recommend improvements
  • Analyze trial and designed experiment results to solve problems and reduce defects
  • Issue process standards to Production department and ensure adherence
  • Responsible for the development and implementation of Statistical Process Control techniques.
  • Make recommendations during new product design to optimize production efficiency.
  • Recommend and justify budget recommendations for capital equipment related to the process.
  • Assist with cross-training within production and other departments.
  • Conduct special projects as assigned, serve on project teams as needed.

Working Conditions/Other:

  • Vision must be correctable to 20/20 and hearing must be in the normal range for telephone contacts
  • Requires good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity sufficient to work with injection molding machines up to 400 tons clamping force
  • Ability to lifting to up 50 pounds and physical tasks associate with heavy equipment, machinery, and production materials including operating forklifts
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally for customer / supplier meetings or industry conferences
