Job description

The primary purpose of this position is to lead the activities for the mill's production network and plant floor process control systems. The secondary purpose of this position is to maintain and develop process control operating systems from a hardware and software perspective. This position will also implement and optimize systems with the objective of ensuring that plant operations remain in a high state of uptime and reliability. This position is safety sensitive.

You have: (required)

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Computer Science or related field from an Accredited College or University

  • 5 years of experience in Process Control Systems or IT environment 

  • 2 years of Supervisory experience 

  • 2 years of Project Management experience

  • 2 years of full-stack experience or equivalent project work developing using programming languages such as C#, C++, VBA, SQL, or similar

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire.  Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

Exceptional Candidates also have: (preferred)

  • 2+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment

  • 3+ years of programming experience in the following languages (C#, C++, VBA, or SQL)

  • 1 year of maintaining a database system using any of the following platforms - MSAccess, SQL Lite, Microsoft SQL Server, or Postgre SQL

  • 1 year of experience working knowledge of programming and interface techniques with various manufacturing shop floor control systems (e.g., programmable controllers (PLC's), Human Machine Interfaces (HMI's), Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems)

  • A working knowledge of UNIX, LINUX, Windows Operating Systems

  • A practiced knowledge of Project Management skills

  • Lead in a manner that drives the identification, implementation and documentation of best practices for process control systems.  Interface with other Arconic organizations to benchmark and share best practices.
  • Provide leadership to identify and implement reliable processes to minimize disruption to plant operations. 
  • Lead and drive achievement of department goals through promoting and practicing ABS concepts as well as leading the department Daily Management process.
  • Lead in a manner that recognizes that accident, injury, and environmental incident prevention are equal in importance to production, quality, delivery, recovery and cost control. 
  • Direct supervision of the facility's PCS Engineers.
  • Accept the responsibility to work safely and promote safety consciousness among other employees using the tools of Human Performance (HP). 
  • Deploy short and long term initiatives established for Process Control Systems and Infrastructure based on Lancaster location needs in collaboration with corporate PCS/IT organizations.
  • Set strategic short and long-term vision for Process Control Systems and Infrastructure based on Lancaster location needs and collaboration with various corporate PCS/IT organizations. 
  • Provide oversight for all aspects of project assignments within the assigned area of expertise and responsibilities. 
  • Participate in the annual development of the plant's three-year budget process through scope development, solicitation for quotes and generation of the related project description and budget cost information, particularly with plant and manufacturing computer system related projects and services.
  • Review control system hardware and maintain plan to ensure support of critical plant processes including spare parts, backups, failover and disaster recovery.
  • Ensure security of plant control systems through implementation of Cyber Security Protocol as well as adherence to corporate network segregation practices and ASAT requirements.
