What Drives Success

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Industrial Engineer Intern to support Operational Excellence initiatives within our distribution center in Romeoville IL. This role will report directly to the Senior Operational Excellence (OpEx) Manager and will focus primarily on documenting warehouse processes, identifying improvement opportunities, and supporting standardization efforts across operations.

The ideal candidate is analytical, organized, and interested in supply chain, warehouse operations, continuous improvement, and process engineering.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the warehouse with daily operational improvement initiatives.
  • Observe, document, and map current warehouse processes.
  • Develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), work instructions, and process flow documentation.
  • Analyze packaging workflows to identify inefficiencies, bottlenecks, wastes, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Assist with time studies, process audits, and data collection activities.
  • Help create visual management tools, training materials, and process documentation for warehouse associates.
  • Support continuous improvement projects related to safety, delivery, productivity, quality, and inventory accuracy.
What We Are Looking For

Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain, Operations Management, or related field.
  • Strong interest in warehouse operations, logistics, and process improvement.
  • Understanding of Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement principles preferred.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio or similar process-mapping tools preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and in a fast-paced operational environment.

Preferred Skills

  • Familiarity with warehouse or distribution center operations.
  • Experience with process mapping and documentation.
  • Knowledge of packaging operations or material flow concepts is a plus.
  • Ability to analyze operational data and identify trends.

What We Offer

Compensation: This is an hourly non-exempt role. The starting pay range for this role and market is between $21.30 - $25.00/hour. This rate is based on the intern's current year in their respective university programs. Graduate students may receive a higher rate of pay based on their year in school. Employees in this role are also eligible to earn overtime when they work more than 40 hours in a week (or as otherwise required by state law).
