Logistics Process Engineer
Job Description Summary
Dauch is looking for a Logistics Process Engineer to join our team in Alamance, NC. This is a fully onsite position.
The responsibilities of the Logistics Process Engineer include analyzing the operating environment; this includes identifying process inefficiencies and wastes of time, money, materials, space, and energy. This person will conduct studies, perform analysis, conceptualize improvements, and assist in developing business cases. They will also develop and evaluate pilot programs, simulations, and prototypes, as well as implement new and enhanced processes and tools. This individual will drive an analytical process focusing on developing improved tools and systems to simplify processes, improve space and labor utilization, and increase inventory accuracy.
Job Description:
  • Manages the implementation of new processes, material flow strategies, selection of equipment to be purchased, and time estimates.
  • Works directly with inventory control and operations teams to implement solutions that address root causes of inventory inaccuracies.
  • Performs analysis to optimize utilization of current warehouses and floor storage. Owns project management of internal and external resources to improve.
  • Assists operations in the development of standardized work.
  • Guide implementation of PFEP (Plan for every part) and other models.
  • Interfaces with operations, quality, safety, procurement, and NPI teams.
  • Improves labor utilization by studying work methods; testing modifications; designing new methods; recommending job restructuring.
  • Develop and improve IT tools and systems to simplify processes and improve accuracy.
  • Improves workflow by studying process flow charts; recommending modifications in workflow, work stations and product; developing new procedures; recommending equipment modifications and purchases.
  • Reduces waste by studying methods, equipment, and operator techniques; recommending changes; identifying and analyzing waste.
  • Prepares work-analysis information and reports by collecting, analyzing and summarizing information and trends.
  • Completes work improvement projects by training and guiding operators and supervisors.
  • Maintains operations guidelines by writing and updating policies, procedures and methods.
  • Champion Kaizen events within and outside of the department.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Required Skills and Education
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or related.
  • 3-5+ years of high-volume manufacturing experience, preferably in an automotive environment.
