Description

Position Scope

We are seeking a detail-oriented Product Designer with an engineering background to work with the New Product Development Group in the end-to-end design of our new product portfolio. The designer will work with our team of engineers, product managers, product analysts, subject matter experts, and other departments within the company to assist in the completion of engineering design deliverables. With training and guidance, we expect this candidate to be able to deliver on the key responsibilities outlined below.

Keyย Responsibilities

  • Design industrial equipment and food processing equipment systems based on Product Engineer's requirements.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining mechanical design drawings, programs, documents, machine function descriptions, processes, and design versions using AutoCAD, 3D modeling (Inventor/SolidWorks) software.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining electrical drawings, documentation, and bills of material for control panels across various products. Write functional description documents for new equipment.
  • Assist in writing or troubleshooting PLC/HMI programs.
  • Create and input BOMs into our ERP.
  • Provide technical support and liaise between internal field support and shop staff in all facets of design and execution.
  • Verify the designs meet original requirements from concept, analysis, modification, manufacturing inspection, installation, and testing, to final commissioning.
  • Work in compliance with all FPS administrative, health and safety policies and standard operating procedures.
  • Contribute to the improvement of departmental processes and operations.
  • Provide field installation support as needed.
  • Other general office duties and ad-hoc projects as assigned.

Qualifications & Abilities

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or any related Engineering discipline.
  • Early-stage career professionals with 1-2 years of project or product development related experience. Preferably in the manufacturing or food processing industry.
  • Experience using one or more of AutoCAD Inventor, AutoCAD Electrical, or SolidWorks.
  • Understanding of ladder logic programming and knowledge of electrical and safety standards (UL, CSA, CE).
  • Demonstrated ability to adapt to a fast-paced dynamic environment.
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision in a cross-functional team environment.
  • Demonstrated excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
  • Willing to travel to our international facilities or client sites as required from time to time.
