Job description

The Design/Process Engineer is responsible for turning ideas for products into functional prototypes using efficient and affordable processes. Their duties include researching possible production methods and use engineering software to refine and develop their product.
Summary of Main Responsibilities
  • Create solid models of customer parts from 2D drawings.
  • Create solid models and drawings of the forge, trim and machine tooling required to produce finished parts.
  • Utilize forge simulation software to validate forge tooling design.
  • Purchase materials, supplies and components required to manufacture tooling.
  • May include working directly with customers throughout the part development process.
  • Assist manufacturing departments with process implementation and improvements.
  • Evaluate current processes to determine possible improvements that can be implemented to improve safety, quality, or reduce cost.

Requirements
  • Solid foundation in computer aided design (CAD) - experience working with solid models is required - Solidworks is the preferred platform.
  • Use of Microsoft Office programs - Excel, Word, Outlook, Etc.

Other Preferred Skills/Education:
  • Mechanical Engineering Degree
  • Experience in metal fabrication and machining - especially non-ferrous forging
  • Experience on computer aided manufacturing (CAM) software
