Job description

Job Summary:
Assist in the coordination of binding operations with the Bindery Manager in a productive capacity. To ensure all equipment is running at maximum production levels and is meeting customer quality standards. Perform quality checks and provide input to operators and helpers.
Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Monitor and review set-ups on all machines ensuring all job parameters are met for each process.
  • Assist in implementing, supporting, and monitoring process control, material reduction/production improvement programs.
  • Assist in the development of completing all process improvement of the Sheridan MN material reduction/production improvement program.
  • Assists in directing the maintenance schedules on all equipment in production to ensure uninterrupted production.
  • Maintains maximum plant productivity and quality control according to established standards; at a level that meets or exceeds the demands of the individual job.
  • Recommends new procedures to improve production.
  • Attend production meetings and participates in other meetings required by management.
  • Halts production on any job in any manufacturing department when quality requirements are not being met.
  • Ensure equipment is operating through shift change and that all-pertinent information is forwarded to oncoming Production Support Leader. Cooperates with other department heads concerning customer relations, production planning and scheduling, purchasing and accounting.
  • Train apprentices to become effective operators and helpers.
  • Maintains health, safety standards and records for all production departments.
  • Works to reduce spoil-work level.
  • Performs other duties as requested.

Basic Qualifications:
  • Four years + in trade on similar equipment.
  • Extensive knowledge in systems related to manufacturing. Ability to plan, organize, direct, control, and lead.
  • Excellent trouble shooting skills.
  • Leadership tendencies.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Good communication skills.

Desired Skills and Abilities:
  • Graphic arts and/or technical school background beneficial.

Physical Requirements
Work is performed in a factory environment with regular exposure to dust, dirt, noise, and the physical hazards of machinery, plus some exposure to fumes, oils, lubricants, and chemicals.
  • Safety toe shoes.
  • Hearing protection.
  • Must be able to lift to 60 pounds at times.
  • Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization's facilities.
  • Willing to work all shifts.
