Job description

Job Description
The Ambulatory Procedural Assistant is an integral member of the vascular team and participates in both direct and indirect patient care. At the direction of a Registered Nurse or provider, the Ambulatory Procedural Assistant provides assistance with procedures/exams and scheduled therapies by utilizing the two patient identifier process when preparing patients for their examination, procedure or therapy. This role also provides patient support prior to the procedure/exam/therapy through safe patient handling while assisting patients to the exam room and positioning patients on the exam tables. Additionally, this role is responsible to assist the Registered Nurse or provider during the procedure/exam/therapy by preparing the debridement tray, undressing wounds, identifying equipment needed during the procedure, specimen handling and management, vital signs, photo documentation and re-dressing wounds. The Ambulatory Procedural Assistant is also responsible to clean exam rooms in accordance with environmental services standards and specifications; perform specific non-patient care tasks to support departmental function including: dismantling and cleaning equipment, replace/order supplies/equipment, and visually inspect rooms and equipment for safety concerns and report any problems to manager. This role is also required to communicate change/concerns with team members; demonstrate an understanding of: procedures, therapies, and medical terminology related to duties; and maintain competency regarding equipment setup, usage, dismantling, and cleaning.
Qualifications
High school graduate/GED and two years of patient care experience, within the last five years. Patient care experiences that qualify include patient service representative, clinical assistant, nursing assistant, or licensed practical nurse.
Additional Qualfications:
Able to adapt to unpredictable situations within the patient care setting. Computer and keyboard skills preferable. Maintains current Basic Life Support (BLS) for Health Care Providers from one of the following programs: American Heart Association or American Red Cross. Additional specialty training/competency as required by the work area.
