Job description

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Bartender ensures customer and server drink orders are prepared in a timely manner according to established guidelines while maintaining bar cleanliness standards.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Supports a strong commitment to world class guest service and ensures a pleasant and enjoyable dining experience for restaurant patrons.

  • Functions as location's expert on bar systems, recipes, procedures and knowledge of liquor, wine and beer served.

  • Completes all training requirements.

  • Greets bar guests promptly.

  • Uses suggestive selling techniques.

  • Records beverage order, enters order into computer system, prepares drink in accordance to established guidelines and delivers drink to guest.

  • Monitors guest's drinks to anticipate re-order requests.

  • Collects monies owed and performs guest check accountability procedures; maintains a balanced Bar drawer; performs tip declaration activities.

  • Prepares and completes orders for Servers.

  • Washes bar service ware; sets up, cleans, stocks and maintains bar area and bar cooler.

  • Performs Server responsibilities as needed; handles 'To Go' and Associate food orders.

  • Performs Inventory activities as scheduled.

  • Understands and executes procedures for verifying guest's ability to legally purchase and consume alcohol and knows how to prevent a guest from over indulging.

  • ALL OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED.

EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma/GED preferred.

  • At least one year of experience working as a barista, bartender, and/or food preparation.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITY

  • Experience in and passion for consumer service

  • Willingness to learn new skills and be a team player

  • An attitude of flexibility and mindfulness about the team approach

  • Delivering quality beverages consistently and according to shop standards

  • Ability to handle all required tasks around handling cash register

  • Learn all menus and is able to communicate all food and beverage offerings

  • Clean and clear service areas

  • Perform correct POS transactions, closing duties and accounting procedures as required

  • Ability and desire to obey all local, state, and federal laws

  • Ability to memorize and become knowledgeable of menu items

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:

  • N/A

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Regular movement: walking, standing, bending, climbing, stooping, lifting (up to 50lbs), etc.

INDEPENDENT JUDGEMENT:

  • Performs tasks and duties under general supervision, using established procedures and innovation. Chooses from limited alternatives to resolve problems. Occasional independent judgment is required to complete work assignments. Often makes recommendations to work procedures, policies, and practices.
