About the role

The Staff Pharmacist manages and maintains workflow efficiency. Additionally, the Staff Pharmacist dispenses prescription drugs to patients while delivering superior customer service. They provide information about those drugs and help patients understand the instructions their doctors or other health practitioners provided. The Staff Pharmacist provides supervision to pharmacy technicians.

What you'll do

  • Comply withagencypolicies and procedures as well as program specific procedures and protocols.
  • Standard pharmacist dutiesto includeprescription intake,verificationand patient counseling.
  • Knowledge of drugs and their indications, contraindications, dosing, side effects, and proper administration
  • Advise physicians and other health practitioners on theselection, dosages, interactions, and side effects of medications.
  • Evaluate appropriateness of prescription orders with consideration for patient safety and legal requirements.
  • Performs drugutilizationreviews (DUR's) and document interventions.
  • Prior authorization managementworking specifically with the pre-approval processoffilling prescribed medication orders to ensure the proper insurance coverage and efficacy for the drugs used.
  • Monitors the health and progress of patients in response to drug therapy.
  • Advisepatients and answer questions about prescription drugs, including questions aboutpossible sideeffects and interactions among different drugs.
  • Providesinformation and make recommendations about over-the-counter drugs.
  • Give advice about diet, exercise,or stress management.
  • Advisespatients about durable medical equipment and home healthcare supplies.
  • Manage workflow process and supervise pharmacy technicians to ensure compliance with all standards of care to include data entry and preparation of medications and work plans.
  • Demonstrate ability to set priorities and work cooperatively with others within and outside the department.
  • Ability tomaintainquality, safety, and/or infection control standards.
  • Knowledge of clinical operations and procedures.
  • Knowledge of related accreditation and certification requirements.
  • Knowledge of policies and regulationspertaining tothe disbursement of pharmaceutical drugs.
  • Ability to communicate technical information to non-technical personnel.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned byappropriate management.
