Job description

Location: Rochester (Webster), NY 14625
Start Date: ASAP
Helper Rate: $19.16 per hour

We are seeking an experienced and compassionate helper to support a 76-year-old female client who is currently in rehabilitation following surgery for a spinal tumor. She uses a wheelchair and requires assistance with daily activities and transfers as she prepares to transition back home.

The client's daughter is an RN and lives in the home but works during the day, so additional daytime support is needed.

Care Responsibilities

  • Assist with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs)
  • Provide personal care, including bathing and dressing
  • Assist with bed-to-wheelchair transfers
  • Provide companionship and conversation
  • Support the client with her drip and shunt-related care as directed by the appropriate medical team
  • Assist with maintaining a safe and comfortable environment
  • Provide general support during her transition home from rehabilitation

Schedule

  • Monday–Friday
  • 8 hours per day
  • Preferred schedule: 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM
  • Flexible options such as 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM or 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM

Ideal Candidate

  • Experience with wheelchair transfers and personal care
  • Comfortable assisting a client who requires medical support
  • Patient, attentive, and compassionate
  • Strong communication skills
  • Able to work consistently Monday–Friday

This role is best suited for a helper who is experienced with wheelchair-bound clients, personal care, and transfers, and who can provide patient, compassionate support during a transition home from rehabilitation.
