Description

We are seeking a highly motivated Private Equity Fund Performance Analyst to support a high-priority federal investment program focused on accelerating the development, commercialization, and deployment of emerging technologies critical to U.S. economic competitiveness and national security. The analyst will evaluate fund performance, assess portfolio strategies, support investment diligence, and enhance data-driven decision-making across the program lifecycle. 


This role sits at the intersection of private capital markets, advanced technology investment, and federal strategy execution. The ideal candidate will bring strong analytical and financial modeling capabilities, experience evaluating private equity or alternative investment performance, and the ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, high-visibility environment supporting senior government stakeholders. 


This position requires full-time on-site support five (5) days per week in the Washington, DC area. 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Conduct detailed analysis of private equity funds, venture capital structures, portfolio companies, and alternative investment strategies, including performance benchmarking and trend analysis.  
  • Evaluate investment opportunities and portfolio performance within critical and emerging technology sectors, including areas with commercial and defense relevance.  
  • Analyze fund performance metrics including IRR, MOIC, DPI, TVPI, PME, cash flow pacing, and portfolio attribution.  
  • Support the intake, diligence, and pipeline review process for potential investment opportunities by assessing financial, operational, and strategic considerations.  
  • Develop investment memoranda, performance reports, dashboards, and executive-level briefings for senior federal leadership and program stakeholders.  
  • Monitor market conditions, capital formation trends, and macroeconomic developments impacting private investment ecosystems and emerging technology markets.  
  • Support development and refinement of investment policies, reporting frameworks, risk mitigation strategies, and governance processes.  
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of internal data systems, investment tracking tools, and workflow management processes.  

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship required and will be verified in-person.  
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Business, Accounting, Public Policy, or related field.  
  • 3-5 years of experience in analyzing the performance of funds in one or more of the following: Private Credit, Private Equity, Venture Capital, Asset Management  
  • Strong understanding of private capital structures, investment lifecycle management, and fund performance evaluation methodologies.  
  • Experience building and interpreting complex financial models and investment performance analyses.  
  • Proficiency with Excel, PowerPoint, and financial reporting/data visualization tools.  
  • Ability to synthesize large datasets into clear, actionable insights for executive audiences.  
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including experience preparing investment or strategic briefing materials.  
  • Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.  

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Experience supporting federal programs, public-private partnerships, or government investment initiatives.  
  • Familiarity with institutional investment reporting standards and portfolio analytics.  
  • Experience with Salesforce, Power BI, Tableau, SQL, or similar analytical tools.
