Job Summary
The University of North Georgia is currently accepting applications for a federal work study student in the Middle, Secondary and P12 Education department on the Dahlonega campus. The General Laboratory Assistant supports the instructional lab operation by preparing, assembling, and maintaining lab kits; managing inventory and supplies; and assisting with routine laboratory organization and safety tasks. This position requires collaborative assistance with supervisor and faculty members to ensure labs are well-stocked, functional, and prepared for instructional use.
Responsibilities
  • Update, assemble, and maintain laboratory kits for instructional use, ensuring materials are complete, accurate, and aligned with course or lab requirements.
  • Create new lab kits as needed based on instructor or departmental specifications.
  • Track, monitor, and maintain inventory of laboratory supplies, equipment, and consumables.
  • Perform basic maintenance of lab equipment and workspaces.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
  • Basic knowledge of laboratory practices, materials, or equipment (academic lab experience preferred).
  • Strong organizational skills (e.g. spreadsheet creation, inventory list) and attention to detail.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions accurately.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment.

Required Qualifications
  • Must be enrolled at the University of North Georgia in a minimum of six (6) credit hours to qualify as a student worker.
