Minimum Qualifications

Possession of a current Louisiana Registered Nurse license or a temporary permit or multi-state license issued by a Nursing Licensure Compact (NLC/eNLC) state to practice as a registered nurse.

Job Duties and Other Information

Job Duties:

  • Distribute medication
  • Set up and assist with clinics, which include general practice clinic, gynecology clinic, dental clinic, dermatology clinic, and when needed psychiatric clinic. Assist with examinations and procedures.
  • Makes regular patient rounds to observe and assess patients' physical conditions and behaviors, evaluates the quality of care provided, and ensures proper documentation of treatment.
  • Conduct intake and/or admission of new residents, initiate medical charts, set up residents for lab and x-ray work.

Position-Specific Details:

Appointment Type: PROBATION, or PROMOTION OF A PERMANENT, CLASSIFIED LOUISIANA STATE EMPLOYEE

  • Current permanent status classified LA State employees may be required to accept a probational appointment if accepted.
  • An employee selected for a promotion may be required to serve a trial detail prior to being permanently promoted.
  • This posting may also be used to fill a vacancy as a temporary job appointment. If filled as a temporary job appointment, should a permanent position become available, the employee may be converted to a probational appointment.

Compensation: This position has a Special Entrance Rate (SER) at each level. However, the salary offered will be determined based on qualifications and experience.

  • Registered Nurse 1 has an SER of $29.84 per hour

  • Registered Nurse 2 has an SER of $31.93 per hour

  • Registered Nurse 3 has an SER of $34.17 per hour

'Premium Pay' paid in addition to regular pay for qualifying conditions: Retention * Credentials * Experience * Shift Differential

There is Premium Pay at a rate of $5.00 per hour for each hour worked, in addition to regular pay.

Career Progression Group: REGISTERED NURSE 1, 2, or 3

  • Filled at the highest level of experience of the selected applicant.
  • Salary depends on level of experience.
