Job description

Position Description: To acquire the ability and skills to print flexographic (Flexo) inks and topcoats on a variety of substrates to produce labels for the labeling and packaging industry.
Requirements
Essential Duties:
  1. The ability to read and understand production orders.
  2. Set up and operate flexo equipment according to job specifications.
  3. Mount printing plates and adjust inks, tensions, registration and speed.
  4. Troubleshoot press and print issues.
  5. Report to management when supplies of ink and disposables are low.
  6. Accurately record production consumption and time into ERP system.
  7. Perform daily maintenance and cleaning in accordance with SQF/GMP requirements.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Capable of accurately reading a ruler.
  • Some mechanical aptitude with attention to detail.
  • The ability to have good relations with peers and management.
  • Able to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to meet production performance standards.
  • Ability to distinguish colors.
  • Knowledge of safety and quality standards in a production setting.

Training and Experience:
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • 0-2 years printing press experience

Physical Requirements:
  • Climbing - ascending and descending - stool/stairs.
  • Stooping, crouching, reaching, standing, walking.
  • Pushing, pulling, using pushcart and/or roll runner
  • Lifting up to 50 pounds occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds constantly to move objects.
  • Fingering, grasping and feeling.

  • Exerting 20-50 pounds of force to move objects, such as paper rolls.
  • Required to have visual acuity to determine the accuracy and quality of work produced.

  • Subject to atmospheric conditions that may affect the respiratory system or the skin such as fumes and vapors.
