Position Summary

The Soldering Associate performs all tasks involved in the production of products manufactured under the scope of the Electronics or Electro-Chemical business unit. This includes cable assembly, soldering cable leads onto printed circuit board through-hole locations, some surface-mount technology (SMT) soldering, some ball grid array (BGA) soldering, potting, final assembly, testing, and packing in accordance with established methods, standards, and work instructions. The position follows standard work methods and practices safe work habits to ensure production is as efficient and safe as possible.


Working Hours -  Monday thru Friday - 3pm to 11pm  with a 2nd shift $1.00 differential


Essential Functions

  1. Solder cable leads to through-hole locations on printed circuit boards
  2. Some surface-mount technology (SMT) or ball grid array (BGA) soldering
  3. Cut, strip, tin, solder and terminate cable assemblies
  4. Produce electronic assemblies from start to finish according to the schedule, specifications, engineering drawings, and work instructions
  5. Fabricate or modify parts, using provided shop equipment and tools
  6. Attach appropriate labels to wires, products and packages
  7. Test product functional performance to ensure conformance to specifications prior to shipment
  8. Record any defects or other data as requested by supervisors or managers
  9. Where applicable, understand serialized processes and trace data through product’s serial number
  10. Pack finished goods into correct packages and boxes
  11. Notify supervisor of any mechanical or material issues
  12. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area
  13. Perform other duties as required and assigned; duties and activities may change over time

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, various temperatures. The employee may operate or work in proximity to high voltage testers and moving mechanical equipment. 

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to talk or hear. The position requires the ability to concentrate while performing work. The employee is required to sit, stand, walk, use hands and fingers to handle or feel, and reach with hands and arms.

Requirements:

Required Qualifications and Experience

High school diploma or GED preferred

Previous soldering experience

Soldering certification (IPC) is a plus (but not required)

Previous experience in operation of electronic equipment

Must be able to routinely lift 25 pounds

Must be able to work in fast-paced environments

Occasional overtime to meet business needs

Must be conversant in English for safe and effective performance of the job

Must be eligible to work in the U.S.
