Kapalua Plantation Course, located in Lahaina, HI is pleased to announce an excellent career opportunity for a full-time, Retail Merchandise Associate! We are seeking a driven individual who is eager to learn, contribute, and grow within a fast-paced hospitality-focused property organization. As part of Troon, you'll contribute to a global leader in golf and community management.
General Purpose:
The Retail Merchandise Associate is responsible for supporting facility-level retail operations in alignment with Kapalua Golf standards. This role helps position The Kapalua Golf shop as a leading golf retail destination by creating an inviting shopping environment, delivering excellent guest service, and supporting a successful retail operation. The position is primarily focused on merchandising, inventory management, reporting, and retail sales support, including operating the POS system for merchandise purchases.
Pay:
$22.00 per hour
Essential Duties:
  • Golf Shop Ops
    • Open, operate, and close the golf shop following established procedures
    • Answer phones and assist guests with golf shop purchases and product questions
    • Operate the POS system and process merchandise sales as needed
    • Help create a welcoming, organized golf shop experience with strong guest service
    • Support loss prevention by staying aware of guest activity in the shop
  • Merchandising
    • Rotate stock and keep displays clean, full, and visually appealing
    • Help create a unique shopping environment through thoughtful merchandising
    • Work with retail leadership to support merchandise promotions and seasonal plans
    • Assist with training golf shop staff on retail products, procedures, policies, and service standards
    • Help support merchandise sales goals through presentation, product knowledge, and service
  • Inventory
    • Participate in monthly physical inventory counts
    • Maintain accurate inventory using Troon merchandising and accounting procedures
    • Keep approved in-stock product categories filled at the facility level
  • Ordering/Processing
    • Receive and inspect incoming merchandise shipments to verify quantities, styles, colors, item details, and overall accuracy against vendor invoices and packing slips, and report any discrepancies, damages, or incorrect items
    • Prepare merchandise for the sales floor by folding, steaming, tagging, and removing manufacturer tags
    • Create, print, and attach product tags to merchandise
    • Assist with special product design needs when needed
  • Reports
    • Share updates with retail leadership on product levels, local buying trends, and vendor opportunities
    • Share guest feedback and customer requests for restocks, new products, and future merchandise opportunities with retail leadership
  • Support for Daily Golf Operations
    • Support the retail side of daily golf shop operations
    • Help keep golf shop and storage areas organized and ready for daily use
    • Follow safe work practices
    • Performs other duties as requested
    • Maintain regular and reliable attendance

Education/Experience:
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or six months to one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Physical Demands:
  • Regularly stands for extended periods, walks, uses hands, talks, and hears.
  • Occasionally sits, climbs, balances, stoops, kneels, or crouches.
  • Frequently lifts up to 15 pounds and occasionally lifts up to 40 pounds.

Environment/Noise:
  • This is an indoor position with a minimum level of noise.

Certificates/Licenses:
  • Valid Driver's License.

Job Knowledge, Skill, and Ability Preferences:
  • Strong understanding of retail service standards and daily golf shop operations.
  • Knowledge of merchandising practices, inventory procedures, and product presentation
  • Basic knowledge of the game of golf preferred
  • Professional verbal communication and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent guest service skills with a positive attitude and strong work ethic
  • Ability to work flexible hours based on golf shop business needs
  • Manage multiple priorities in a golf club retail environment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Comfort using the internet and other digital tools in a professional setting
  • Strong time management skills and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively
  • Willingness to learn new products, systems, and procedures
  • Ability to read and speak English may be required to perform the duties of the job (e.g. the associate may be required to communicate with English speaking customers or co-workers, the manuals for the equipment the associates may use are in English)
