Job Summary

Leatherback Printing is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Printing Estimator to join our team. The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge of the print production process, excellent analytical skills, and a proven track record of preparing accurate estimates.  Experience with E-Pace estimating and Metrix Layout software a plus.
Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze Quote Requests: Review client specifications and determine where each specific item best fits our equipment.
  • Calculate Costs: Determine material, labor, equipment, and time requirements to calculate detailed cost estimates for various print jobs (offset, digital, large format). When necessary, obtain quotes from vendors for materials and services.
  • Optimize Production Plans: Evaluate available production methods and estimate the most efficient and cost-effective approach for each project.
  • Collaborate: Act as a key liaison between sales, production, and clients to ensure all job requirements are understood, met, and any changes are clearly communicated.
Preferred Qualifications and Skills

  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of recent experience in a printing estimator role or related print production environment.
  • Skills: Deep understanding of print production processes, including prepress, presswork (offset, digital, etc.), finishing, and binding. Strong mathematical aptitude, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities are essential for accurate cost analysis. Meticulous attention to detail is critical to avoid costly errors. Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively collaborate with sales, production & clients.
  • Time Management: Ability to manage multiple estimates simultaneously and consistently meet deadlines in a high-volume, deadline-driven environment.
