The Sign Production - Flatbed Printer is responsible for a variety of tasks related the production of signs and graphics in our sign production facility. We are a full service, custom sign shop that provides quality products and services to our awesome customers. Attitude, dependability, positivity, and work ethic are key factors of success in this role. A team member in this role will run our Canon Arizona flatbed printer, help fabricate, and assemble various types of signs and vinyl.
This is a great fit for those who like to work with a small team, make things with your hands and feel the pride of seeing a finished project come to life. Experience in construction or a skilled trade is helpful but not required. Customer relations, service, and attention to detail are a priority in all jobs.
Work Arrangement: This position is able to work onsite at our Lansing SuperSign Office (1200 Marquette St, Lansing, MI 48906).
Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00am - 5:00pm; Overtime as needed during peak business times.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Read and understand written job instructions.
  • Operate assigned production equipment according to processes and work instructions.
  • Load materials and ensure proper tools are used.
  • Ready jobs by transferring supplies and substrates from inventory to work areas & equipment, work with the appropriate personnel, and review electronic files from network server at workstation prior to printing.
  • Make final pre-run inspection of job and approves or confers with supervisor for approval if necessary. The employee is responsible for quality of printed work with defined levels of authority.
  • Operates or directs operation of the flatbed printing equipment in accordance with job orders.
  • Operate or assist in other Wide Format production-related tasks if needed and when workload permits. This may include hand finishing various sign and graphic projects.
  • Perform daily maintenance and cleaning of the flatbed printing equipment in accordance with the manufacturer's requirements.
  • Inventory the flatbed printing consumables such as ink and cleaning supplies and notify management when low.
  • Help maintain an orderly shop by stocking materials as they arrive and by performing daily shop cleaning.
  • Monitor the machine during the printing process to ensure high quality output and minimize waste.
  • Adhere to all safety guidelines to ensure a safe environment.
  • Perform routine checks and maintenance on the equipment.
  • Ability to adapt quickly to a dynamic work environment.
  • Aid in other tasks as needed, including hand finishing of signage and graphics projects.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Flatbed printer, wide format digital printing, construction, or skilled trade experience preferred
  • The ability to perform basic shop math and read measuring equipment.
  • Willingness to learn cutting software.
  • A basic mechanical understanding and experience operating complex machinery.
  • A strong ability to perform quality checks and ensure that the final products meet specifications.
  • A positive and patient attitude.
  • Must possess a valid Michigan driver's license.
  • Ability to work well with others in a team environment
  • Motivated self-started, able to perform work duties & tasks with limited oversight

Physical Demands and Work Environment:
  • This position requires onsite presence at the employee's assigned location for all scheduled shifts.
  • May be required to remain standing, seated or stooped in a stationary position for an extended period.
  • Ability to operate standard office technology, equipment, and tools, which includes frequent use of a computer.
  • Frequently needs to move about inside or outside of an office area.
  • Exposure to potentially hazardous conditions. Receives detailed instructions and procedures to be followed to minimize the exposure.
  • Frequently moves equipment or materials weighing up to 50 pounds for transport between areas of buildings.
  • This position requires onsite presence at the employee's assigned location for all scheduled shifts.
  • This position may require occasional off-site installation work.
  • Ability to pass a Department of Transportation (DOT) physical.
