The pay range is $73,000.00 - $132,000.00

A role with the Design team means a big opportunity to start from scratch and create something truly original. Are you a design expert who can support your business by staying one step ahead of industry trends, new materials and techniques? Can you demonstrate the utmost attention to detail and create products that are unprecedented in the marketplace for their design and quality for the price? Then you'll have success on our Design team who owns the design and development of all Target-owned brands, from apparel to home goods, and beauty to essentials. In close partnership with our merchant and sourcing counterparts, you'll drive brand cohesion and continuity, ensuring that our products meet the merchant line plans, assortment strategies, price points and overall creative direction.
As a Designer, Soft Décor, you will support and be responsible for Owned Brand product brands and/or categories that achieve overall product design strategy and merchant objectives. Under the overall direction of Design leadership, you will work across brands in the soft goods categories. You will be expected to maintain a diligent approach to workload, which includes timely communication with internal and external partners, managing deliverables & deadlines, conducting sample reviews and prepping for milestone presentations. You'll support and drive concepts throughout all stages of the development process, including research, selection of materials/techniques, print, pattern and color application, as well as the creation of silhouettes/fabrications. Using CAD/hand sketches, you'll translate ideas for product direction across the soft goods categories, with an emphasis on Outdoor Living Soft Goods (Toss Pillows, Cushions and Rugs, as needed). In addition, you'll build brand cohesion by partnering with peers across the division to ensure continuity, maintain overall creative direction, merchant line plans, assortment strategies, and price points. You'll collaborate with Product Engineering, Technical Development and Sourcing teams to ideate and ensure designs are compatible with quality requirements, vendor capabilities and pricing goals.

This role will require in office work 4 days/week from our Downtown MN campus
About you:
  • 4-year Degree in Design (Product Design or Textile Design preferred)
  • 3+ years of relevant experience in product development (home textile experience preferred)
  • Strong aptitude for trend, design and print & pattern; demonstrated high taste level, creative ability and proclivity for innovation.
  • Ability to respond to business objectives with creative, original and cost-effective design solutions
  • Proficient in all Adobe Creative Suite programs
  • Experience assimilating product feedback
  • Highly collaborative and able to successfully work in a team environment.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

This position will operate as a Hybrid/in office work arrangement based on Target's needs. A Hybrid/in office work arrangement means the team member's core role will need to be performed both onsite at the Target HQ MN location the role is assigned to and virtually, depending upon what your role, team and tasks require for that day.
