Job description

The Digital Print Operator operates expertly wide format inkjet and laser systems and inkjet sheetfed printers. They utilize a high level of proficiency to obtain quality and quantity goals according to customer specifications and standard operating procedures.
Primary Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Set-up, operate, and maintain department machinery.
  • Interpret job specs and component orientation: verify finished product meets customer specifications.
  • Perform basic and advanced Make Readies/setups.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and proper production reports.
  • Perform daily maintenance to ensure color accuracy.
  • Identify root causes that impact productivity and quality goals.
  • Ensure jobs are assembled properly; and maintain appropriate print position.
  • Assist Equipment Technicians with troubleshooting problems.
  • Load and unload forms; maintain adequate supply of materials at the machine.
  • Conduct smooth transition between shifts; gather pertinent data to avoid interruption to production.
  • Replace ink Drums.
  • Expertly re-web press as needed.
  • Ensure overall quality and color consistency.
  • Partner with Supervisor when equipment repair is necessary.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area.
  • Ability to cross train on all equipment.
  • Train newer team members to advance their skills and enhance team flexibility.
  • Perform other (or other related) duties as applicable or assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities/Competencies:
  • Determine proper registration through the use of templates and visual inspection.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Basic computer skills preferred.
  • Detail-oriented and ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Team player and ability to train others.
  • Highly technically inclined and ability to operate direct mail equipment.
  • Ability to use Maxwell workstation instrument, MICR workstation instrument and set up Coating and Perf unit.

Education and Experience:
  • High School Diploma, GED or equivalent.
  • Manufacturing/Production environment experience; lean manufacturing and/or quality control training preferred.
  • High Speed inserting experience required, preferably to include 4 color Read/Write (Condor).
  • 1+ year of digital printing experience.
  • 2+ years' laser operator experience; additional experience in digital print, direct mail, and/or fulfillment industry helpful.
  • Previous participation on a safety team and/or other safety training a plus.

Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to work consecutively 12-hour shifts, rotating 3 or 4 days per week including weekend rotations.
  • Ability to work overtime when needed.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Standard climate-controlled production environment; exposure to loud noise (PPE is provided).
  • Ability to lift, carry and push/pull up to 35 pounds.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, twist, pivot, crouch, squat, kneel, and stoop for up to 12 hours.
  • Upper extremity motion requirements: fine motor movements, pushing/pulling with arms, grasping and pinching.
  • Lower extremity motion requirements: reaching

Salary:
The starting hourly range for this position is $23.00-$27.00/hr.
