Description:

A Bachelor of Science degree in Fire Protection Engineering and minimum 10-15 years of work experience as a licensed engineer. Individual shall be Engineer of Record in several states.


Responsibilities/Skills:

  • Individuals assigned to this classification is responsible for implementing engineering project(s), including Construction Documents, Coordination with other disciplines, Permitting, Bidding and Construction Administration in accordance with client
  • requirements and code.
  • Individual is to ensure high level of quality assurance on the product i.e., Construction documents, specifications, RFI responses etc.
  • Able to complete the job requirement of Project Engineer successfully.
  • Research, develop and keep updated with latest design in coordination with vendor, senior engineer and other online resources.
  • Excellent knowledge of discipline specific codes and other building codes.
  • Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Good leadership skills to educate client on design and other project requirements.
  • Meet with the Project Architect and Project Manager to discuss the design scope, schedule, budget, phasing, site issues, and design review issues.
  • Estimate discipline man-hours required to complete the design requirements of a project.
  • Capable of serving as the main point of contact for a project or series of projects with one or several clients, the contractor and the consultants with limited input required from the Project Manager or Principle.
  • Ensure coordination with architectural and engineering disciplines.
  • Oversee the design and production of engineering construction documents and specifications for the projects/programs.
  • Maintain Cuhaci & Peterson and/or the client’s standards.
  • Anticipate and resolve issues as they arise.
  • Provide on-going quality control throughout the project.
  • Obtain and perform peer review of documents.
  • Oversee setting up project budget(s) and completing designated scope of work within allotted time.
  • Communicate owner revisions and RFI’s.
  • Assist in representing the client’s interests at public hearings and meetings, as needed.
  • Provide customer service to client in order to maintain relationship.
  • Mentor and train engineering designer to successfully produce high quality construction documents and within the allotted budget.
  • Additional duties as required.
