Responsibilities
As Octave continues to grow, we are looking for a Principal DevOps Engineer to work in Richardson, TX- Hybrid.
• Identifies, analyzes, and resolves system design weaknesses
• Influences the shaping of future products by contributing to the framework (architecture) used across multiple products or systems
• Provides multi-layered technical expertise for next generation initiatives
• Collaborates with development and operations teams to help create reliable and frequent releases for software and updates. This could include, but is not limited
to, testing of new features, identifying solutions that may impact the product for cloud deployment, building automation tools, standardizing technologies, andimproving operations efficiency
• Acts as a liaison between product development and cloud operations
• Tests implemented designs and advises/documents the impact for cloud deployment
• Develops, analyzes, and maintains tools that support and automate processes for hardware or software product releases
• Writes installation scripts and programs for installation of products
• Actively troubleshoots any issues that arise during testing, catching, and solving issues before deployment
Education / Qualifications
Must-Have:
• Microsoft Azure infrastructure (3 yrs)
• Infrastructure-as-Code (any)
• CI/CD (actually built and maintained, not just used)
• Claude Code or Codex, any experience including personal projects, as long as they are active users of agentic coding tools
• PowerShell
• Git
• Highly experienced in full SDLC (filtering vs. DevOps as narrow engineering role)
• Willing and able to write lots of DevOps-relevant documentation as part of role
• Position includes on-call responsibilities (mild, rarely called) and frequent but low-impact evening maintenance
