Salary range (but not limited to):

149,600 - 182,800

Annual bonus target, based on the base salary, with a potential payout of up to double the target (subject to personal and company performance):

Salary for the candidate will be determined taking into consideration a number of factors including: experience, skills, qualifications, anticipated contribution to role, internal equity, etc. The salary range presented above is based on a 35-hour workweek and would represent a majority of different candidate profiles. However, we encourage candidates who may fall outside of this range to apply as well.


About the role

Reporting to the VP, Cloud and Platform Engineering, the Principal Advisor is both a visionary and a practitioner, serving as the top technical authority for the Cloud and Platform Engineering portfolio. In this role, you will set the long-term strategy for our multicloud future while remaining a deeply technical, handson builder.Your core mandate is to be a leader who has the ability to code and build the infrastructure and AI platforms that power an autonomous enterprise. You are accountable for the end-to-end health of our technology-from mainframe to cloud-and are empowered to rationalize, modernize, and automate at scale to drive Intact's future forward.What you'll do here:Strategic Vision & Architecture:
  • Own the end-to-end infrastructure strategy, target architectures, and multi-year roadmaps aligned with business capabilities, resilience, and cost.
  • Provide thought leadership on transformation, security, and responsible AI, translating emerging tech into actionable strategy.
  • Define the technical path for mainframe modernization, data center exit, and workload migration (rehost, replatform, refactor, SaaS)
Hands-On Engineering & Automation:
  • Lead by doing: Architect, code, and deliver reference implementations for IaC, CI/CD pipelines, and automation.
  • Champion and build AIOps and agentic AI solutions to eliminate operational toil, enable predictive capacity, and automate remediation.
  • Evolve our internal developer platform (IDP) with self-service golden paths that enforce security and compliance standards.
Leadership & Influence:
  • Serve as the primary advisory partner to the VP, presenting clear options and technical investment plans.
  • Coach directors and senior engineers to elevate decision quality and unblock critical technical challenges.
  • Engage with executive forums (ARB, PI Planning) to frame decisions by outcomes, risk, and cost to secure sponsorship.
What you bring to the table:Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Relevant certifications in major cloud platforms or advanced technical domains are strong assets.
Experience:
  • 12+ years in infrastructure/platform engineering with a clear progression from deep technical roles to strategic leadership.
  • Proven leadership of multi-year transformations like data center exits, cloud landing zone construction, or large-scale identity modernization.
Technical Expertise:
  • Builder of the Autonomous Enterprise:You have a demonstrated history of personally building and delivering infrastructure, automation, and AI-driven platforms at scale.
  • Multi-Cloud Mastery:Deep, hands-on proficiency with AWS, Azure, and GCP, including their core infrastructure, governance, and networking services.
  • Platform and Security Depth:Expert-level knowledge of Kubernetes, service mesh, GitOps, and zero-trust security principles.
  • Broad Infrastructure Knowledge:Mastery of compute (mainframe to cloud), storage/backup/DR, and enterprise networking (SD-WAN/SASE).
Skills & Abilities:
  • A rare blend of strategic vision and a practitioner's passion for building.
  • Exceptional ability to communicate complex technical concepts to both executive and engineering audiences.
  • For candidates located in Quebec, bilingualism is required considering the necessity to interact on a regular basis with English-speaking colleagues across the country.
  • No Canadian work experience required however must be eligible to work in Canada.
