Child Nutrition Secretary- (Federal/State Programs)
(Job Grade 4)
Starting Salary: $34,992

Qualifications:

1. Associate degree or equivalent from two-year college, business or technical school; or two to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience, preferably in a public-school environment.
2. Ability to read and comprehend complex instructions, correspondence, and memos. Ability to write correspondence.
3. Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
4. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
5. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
6. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
7. Ability to access the Internet and collect research on methods and samples of procedures and documents in other district or organizations.
8. Knowledge of software programs:
9. Intermediate to Advanced level MS Excel required.
10. MS Word, Adobe Acrobat, Outlook, PowerPoint preferred.
11. Familiarity with basic accounting concepts (debit, credit, journal entry, account codes).
12. Satisfactory work record and criminal/child abuse clearances (Acts 34 and 151).

Summary
Assists in carrying out the responsibilities of the Child Nutrition Department relating to updating the Pennsylvania Department of Education (PEARS) website, as well as general functions in the district office.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Input and update the PEARS system on a regular basis.

• Create/update when needed School Nutrition Program (SNP), Child Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) and Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) applications.
• Review, validate and process claims for SNP, CACFP and SNP.
• Verify meal counts for SNP, CACFP and SFSP.
• Process all meal counts for reimbursement for SNP, CACFP, and SFSP.
• Process all claims within 10 days of the end of the previous month.

1. Provide excellent customer service to parents, staff, and administrators.
2. Working knowledge of Skyward software preferred.
3. Assist with Primero Edge DC upload.
4. Assist with the student enrollment/promotion file upload into Primero Edge.
5. Assist with the staff development/in-service file upload into Primero Edge.
6. Assist with the student enrollment/promotion file upload into PCS.
7. Maintain a good working relationship with Child Nutrition Services vendors.
8. Answer and follow up on phone calls and e-mails regarding issues relating to Child Nutrition.
9. Compose and type routine correspondences, including emails and faxes.
10. Organize and maintain an efficient filing system.
11. Makes copies of correspondences or other printed materials.
12. Takes responsibilities for other tasks as substitution is needed.
13. Fill in as a backup for the other department secretary.
14. Serve as a resource to schools and vendors in area of responsibility.
15. Utilized computer software applications in areas of responsibility.
16. Perform routine duties as required; compose and send correspondence, answer telephones, sort and distribute mail and order materials.
17. Review and update after school snack, supper programs.
18. Performs such other tasks and assumes such other responsibilities as may be assigned or delegated by the Director of Child Nutrition Services.
