HR Generalist
Position Summary
The HR Generalist serves as a key member of the Human Resources team, acting as the first point of contact for employee and management HR-related inquiries. This role is responsible for supporting a wide range of human resources functions, including employee relations, recruiting, onboarding, benefits administration, compliance, training and development, and HR program implementation. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment while ensuring compliance with employment laws and company policies.
Key Responsibilities
  • Serve as the first point of contact for employee and external partner HR inquiries.
  • Support recruiting activities, including job postings, candidate coordination, interview scheduling, and onboarding.
  • Administer employee benefits programs and assist with employee questions regarding benefits and compensation.
  • Maintain employee records and HR documentation in accordance with company policies and legal requirements.
  • Assist with employee relations matters, including investigations, performance management support, and conflict resolution.
  • Coordinate training and development initiatives, employee orientations, and compliance training programs.
  • Support affirmative action and equal employment opportunity (EEO) initiatives and reporting requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local labor laws and employment regulations.
  • Assist with policy development, implementation, and communication across the organization.
  • Generate HR reports, metrics, and documentation to support business needs and decision-making.
  • Partner with managers and leadership to support workforce planning and organizational initiatives.
  • Participate in special HR projects and continuous improvement efforts.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
  • 3+ years of Human Resources experience in a generalist capacity.
  • Knowledge of employment laws, HR best practices, and compliance requirements.
  • Experience supporting multiple HR functions, including employee relations, recruitment, benefits, and HR administration.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and HRIS systems.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with professionalism and discretion.

Preferred Qualifications
  • PHR (Professional in Human Resources) Certification.
  • SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP Certification.
  • Experience supporting manufacturing or multi-site operations.
  • Knowledge of payroll and compensation administration.

Work Environment
  • Fully onsite, Monday through Friday.
  • Schedule: 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM with a 30-minute lunch break.
  • Initial training will take place in Chicago during the first week of employment.
  • Travel to Chicago required every two months during the first year (2-3 days per visit); quarterly thereafter.
  • Role responsibilities will be divided between:
    • 60% HR support for Prima Power Laserdyne
    • 40% HR support for Prima Power North America

Job Type & Location

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $75000.00 - $82000.00/yr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
