Position Summary

The Feeder assists the Pressman in the setup, operation, and maintenance of 40-inch offset press machines. This role is responsible for preparing paper stock, loading sheets, monitoring feed performance, and maintaining a clean, efficient press environment. The Feeder plays a critical role in ensuring smooth production flow, minimizing downtime, and maintaining print quality standards.


Key Responsibilities

  • Stock Preparation — Stage, jog, and prepare paper stock for 40" and 28" presses; verify sheet size, grain direction, and condition.
  • Feeding Operation — Load sheets into the feeder, maintain consistent sheet flow, and adjust guides, suckers, and air settings as needed.
  • Press Support — Assist the Press Operator with setup, plate changes, blanket cleaning, ink checks, and basic press adjustments.
  • Quality Monitoring — Watch for misfeeds, doubles, jams, and sheet skew; ensure sheets enter the press cleanly and consistently.
  • Maintenance & Cleaning — Clean feeder components, remove paper dust, maintain work area, and support routine press maintenance.
  • Production Efficiency — Help maintain run speed, reduce downtime, and support continuous production flow.
  • Safety & Compliance — Follow all safety protocols, lockout/tagout procedures, and equipment guidelines.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience working in a commercial printing environment (preferred)
  • Familiarity with 40" and/or 28" offset presses
  • Ability to lift 40lbs and stand for long periods
