Job description

The Advocate’s Capital City Press is a state-of-the-art, industry leading regional print facility. We are seeking full time newspaper press operator candidates to join our growing team.


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Perform press setups per job specification.
  • Operation of the Manroland REGIOMAN printing press including ability to perform print registration adjustments along with the control of ink and water balance.
  • Operation of prepress plate imagers and benders.
  • Perform equipment preventative maintenance.
  • Commitment to optimum product quality.
  • Adherence to deadline requirements.
  • Conservation of material resources with focus on newsprint waste.
  • Perform all duties assigned while maintaining a clean and safe working environment.

Requirements:

  • High school education or equivalent preferred.
  • Color vision is a must.
  • Web offset printing experience is desirable, although experience in any production environment will be helpful in consideration.
  • This position is shift work, which may include scheduled nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Mechanical aptitude and familiarity with computer applications is preferred.
  • Candidates must demonstrate the ability to function in a fast-paced team environment and display the ability to adapt well to change.
  • Position requires some heavy lifting at times. Candidates must be able to lift /carry 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to spend long periods of time standing and climb stairs on the multi-level press structure.
  • The position sometimes requires operators to stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl in confined areas while performing cleaning or preventative maintenance duties.
