Description
Ready to take the next step in your printing career? We're looking for an experienced Web Second Press Operator who is eager to grow, take on new challenges, and build a long-term career with Mittera Wisconsin. In this role, you'll support the operation of our web presses while continuing to develop your technical expertise. If your goal is to become a First Press Operator, we'll invest in your success by providing the training, coaching, and real-world experience to help you advance.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assist the First Press Operator in setting up and operating web offset printing press equipment.
  • Support press make-readies, changeovers, and job transitions to ensure efficient production flow.
  • Monitor press operation during production runs and report any quality or mechanical issues.
  • Perform routine press adjustments as directed by the First Press Operator.
  • Inspect printed materials for quality defects such as color variation, registration issues, streaking, or other inconsistencies.
  • Maintain proper ink, paper, and supply levels during production.
  • Assist in troubleshooting minor press issues and escalating more complex problems when needed.
  • Ensure proper housekeeping of press area, including cleaning ink systems, rollers, and work surfaces.
  • Follow all safety procedures, including PPE requirements and lockout/tagout policies.
  • Assist with preventive maintenance tasks and basic press upkeep.
  • Accurately complete production documentation and quality checks as required.
  • Communicate effectively with First Press Operator, Press Assistants, Maintenance, and Supervisors.
  • Support continuous improvement efforts related to efficiency, waste reduction, and quality.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements
  • Previous web press operation experience required
  • Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn press operations and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work closely as part of a press team.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Basic understanding of print quality standards and color consistency.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced production environment.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • Willingness to work overtime, weekends, and various shifts as needed.

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift 25lbs frequently and up to 50lbs occasionally
  • Requires use of proper body mechanics with pushing, pulling, reaching, lifting, squatting, kneeling and bending
