Is precision turning your craft?

Filger Manufacturing has supported aerospace, medical, and space programs for 70+ years. We're seeking a CNC Lathe Setup Technician who thrives on independent setups and high-accuracy production using Fanuc-controlled Kia and Hardinge turning centers.

Quick facts
  • Start time: 6:00 a.m. (overtime available based on workload)
  • Work focus: First article through completion of production runs
  • Tolerances: As tight as +/- .0002
What will you do?
  • Set up and run CNC lathes with Fanuc controls
  • Select tooling, fixtures, and materials appropriate to the job
  • Read/interpret blueprints, work instructions, and job travelers
  • Complete first articles in collaboration with the shop foreman
  • Adjust offsets and make minor program changes
  • Inspect with micrometers, calipers, gauges, CMM equipment, and eye loupes
  • Troubleshoot quality and machining issues without sacrificing throughput
  • Keep machines and work areas clean and organized
Do you have the right background?
  • 5+ years independently setting up and operating CNC lathes
  • Strong Fanuc experience
  • Proven work on tight-tolerance aerospace or similarly precise components
  • Comfort taking a job from setup/first article through production
  • Advanced blueprint-reading and precision-measurement skills
  • Ability to identify and correct setup, tooling, offset, and quality issues
  • Independent, safety-minded, and a clear communicator
  • Can lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods in a machine-shop environment
