Performance Responsibilities:
  1. Establishes and maintains a positive rapport with students, staff and families.
  2. Ability to read, analyze and interpret teacher and related staff directions and follow through with instruction.
  3. Ability to work with individuals or small groups to reinforce learning of functional academic materials and/or behavioral skills initially introduced by the teacher in self-contained and/or inclusive school setting.
  4. Ability to assist with supervision of self-help skills, daily living and pre-vocational skills including recess, lunch, toileting, hygiene, travel in and out of building and community outings.
  5. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions and accurately communicate information in a timely manner with supervising teacher, staff and administration.
  6. Ability to be a positive role model and consistently follow through with positive behavior supports in all educational settings.
  7. Participates in research-based training including functional academic reinforcement and crisis intervention training as requested.
  8. Maintains the same high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students as is expected of licensed teachers and directs family communication to appropriate licensed personnel.
  9. Willingness to be a team member that is flexible, open to ongoing professional development and can positively accept change on behalf of student or program improvement.
  10. Additional duties may be assigned based on specific student or classroom need.

Qualifications in one of the following:
  • Completed two years of college 60 hrs.
  • Hold a two year degree
  • Pass state Parapro Exam
  • Demonstrate a genuine concern for the learning of children
  • Excellent Communication and Team Skills
  • Strong Organizational Skills
