Roll Back Driver

Strittmatter Companies is seeking a dependable and safety-focused Roll Back Driver to transport construction equipment, materials, and support assets between jobsites, company facilities, and vendor locations. The Roll Back Driver plays a critical role in supporting field operations by ensuring equipment is delivered safely, efficiently, and on schedule while maintaining compliance with all DOT regulations and company safety standards.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Safely operate a roll back truck to transport construction equipment, tools, and materials.
  • Load, secure, transport, and unload equipment using proper tie-down and safety procedures.
  • Conduct pre-trip, post-trip, and daily vehicle inspections.
  • Maintain accurate driver logs, inspection reports, and required transportation documentation.
  • Coordinate deliveries and pickups with dispatch, project managers, and field personnel.
  • Ensure all loads comply with DOT weight and securement requirements.
  • Perform routine maintenance checks and report mechanical issues promptly.
  • Assist with yard operations, equipment organization, and inventory movement when not driving.
  • Maintain a clean and professional appearance of assigned vehicle and equipment.
  • Follow all company policies, safety procedures, and federal, state, and local transportation regulations.
  • Provide excellent customer service when interacting with employees, vendors, and customers.
Qualifications Required
  • Valid CDL Class A or B driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Minimum 2 years of commercial driving experience.
  • Experience transporting construction equipment, machinery, or heavy materials.
  • Ability to safely load and secure various types of equipment.
  • Knowledge of DOT regulations and vehicle inspection requirements.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including occasional overtime.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
Preferred
  • Experience in construction, utility, site development, or heavy civil industries.
  • Knowledge of equipment such as skid steers, mini excavators, excavators, loaders, rollers, and attachments.
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.
  • Tanker endorsement
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift up to 75 pounds.
  • Ability to climb, bend, stoop, kneel, and secure loads.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to enter and exit truck cab multiple times throughout the day.
