Job description

POSITION DESCRIPTION

Position: Memorial Planning Advisor

Department: Catholic Cemeteries

Reports To: Sales Manager

Classification: Exempt

General Description

The Memorial Planning Advisor assists families who wish to obtain the Right of Interment in an Archdiocesan cemetery or mausoleum.

Specific Duties/Responsibilities

The following specific responsibilities are representative of the duties required in this position. They may be unilaterally but reasonably changed based on the working environment and departmental needs.

  • Able to learn and promote the Order of Christian Funerals with the families of the Archdiocese.
  • Willing to learn and understand the bereavement process.
  • Meet with families in their homes to discuss Pre-Need Planning for mausoleum or cemetery space.
  • Procure and complete sales agreement and all other necessary documents to the transaction.
  • Assist families who wish to obtain memorialization in the mausoleum.
  • Available to work designated mausoleum/cemetery duty days.
  • Able to work well in a team atmosphere.
  • Able to set and meet yearly sales forecasts.
  • Maintain a sales lead database and follow-up on sales leads within a five-day period with a visit to the home.
  • Solicit new business through surveys, referrals, and reworks.
  • Attend weekly sales meetings and special training sessions .
  • Maintain Personal records of activity.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications/Skills

  • Highly motivated self-starter with superior communication skills
  • New Jersey driver's license with a clean driving record and reliable personal transportation
  • Practicing Catholic with a strong commitment to the overall Mission of the Archdiocese of Newark

Education and/or Experience (Preferred)

  • College degree required.
  • Prior sales experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of Excel/Access/Word & PowerPoint helpful.
  • Bi-lingual a plus

This position is for Northeastern New Jersey.
40 hours weekly

Newly hired Memorial Planning Advisors will be paid a weekly training salary for a period not to exceed twelve (12) weeks from date of hire. The maximum base salary for the twelve-week training period shall be $7,000.
At the conclusion of the twelve-week training period, the Memorial Planning Advisorsโ€™ compensation shall be based on 100% commission.
