Pre Op Jobs in Colorado (NOW HIRING)

As a Registered Nurse at Penrose Hospital, you will manage a dual-role caseload across Pre-Op and Phase II recovery, supporting a high-volume surgical department that averages 20–35+ cases daily. This role requires flexibility to float between areas while managing an average of 5–6 patients per shift, including performing pre-operative calls, patient transports, and clinical recovery care for surgical and GI Lab patients. Centrally located on the same floor as the 16 OR suites, the unit features 18 pre-op beds and 16 PACU bays, providing a cohesive environment for seamless perioperative transitions and patient recovery.

• Assess patient’s physical, psychosocial, cultural, and spiritual needs through observation, interview, review of medical records & clinical data.
• Evaluates patient’s response and intervenes to ensure optimal patient outcome.
• Develop and implement patient plan of care and observe outcomes in accordance with nursing standards and in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team.
• Demonstrate competency in a variety of therapeutic/diagnostic interventions including, but not limited to, IV’s, incision/wound care, medication administration, catheterization, and specimen collections.
• Thorough and confidential maintenance of patient charts and records.
• Document ongoing status, interventions, patient response and outcomes in an accurate, timely manner.

Schedule- PRN- Variable days of week and start times per Surgical Volume and Current Unit needs. TBD with Unit manager and Preop RNCC during interviews. 

This position requires working holidays (On Call) and being On Call on weekends. The call requirement for weekends is 6 times per six months (3 Primary and 3 Secondary). 

8-12 RNs are scheduled daily, Monday-Friday, 0515-2030.

This posting is for an evening PRN RN primarily working 1200-2030 but there is some flexibility.

Required

• Associates Degree in Nursing; Nursing Diploma or by endorsement
• RN License in state of employment
• Physical Requirements:  Medium Work exert/lift up to 50 lbs. force occasionally, and/or up to 20 lbs. frequently, and/or up to 10lbs. constantly

Preferred

• Bachelors Degree in Nursing
• One (1) year experience
• Previous PACU/ICU/ED experience highly preferred- 1 yr min
