We are currently recruiting for a full-time Medical Assistant supporting psychiatric prescribers. In this role you will be a key liaison between the patient and the provider responding to patient questions and communicating orders from the provider.

Additional Responsibilities Include:

  • Prepping patients by checking vital signs, guiding patients to exam rooms and providing instructions before they're seen by Clinicians
  • Documenting psychiatric encounters including chief complaints, diagnoses, treatment plans, orders, and medications into the Electronic Health Records (EHR) system
  • Passing prescribed medications, transmitting electronically prescribe prescriptions, and processing refill requests
  • Monitoring patients for safety
  • Completing prescription prior authorizations
  • Reviewing charts to ensure accuracy
  • Helping to maintain efficient patient flow in a fast paced environment
  • Gathering and verifying insurance coverage or helping process claims paperwork
  • Cleaning or maintaining medical equipment and supplies
  • Responding to written and verbal patient inquiries
  • Other duties as assigned

We are seeking a professional and energetic candidate with strong interpersonal and communication skills who understands the importance of patient care. The ideal candidate will be computer savvy (EHR experience preferred) and possess a basic understanding of psychiatry principles. A college degree is required with a preference for a biology, neuroscience, pre-med, psychology, or related major. Experience in a medical office, or equivalent education preferred. Prior experience in a healthcare setting a plus and this is a role that many gap year students have filled in the past while applying to medical school.
