Job description

Position Overview
We are seeking a certified Medical Technologist (ASCP) to join a high-performing hospital laboratory team. This role is responsible for performing a full range of laboratory procedures across pre-analytic, analytic, and post-analytic phases, ensuring accurate and timely diagnostic testing in a fast-paced acute care environment.
The ideal candidate will have strong Blood Bank experience and demonstrate technical expertise, critical thinking, and a commitment to quality and patient safety.
Key Responsibilities
Pre-Analytic:
  • Specimen collection, processing, and data entry
  • Clerical and laboratory support duties
Analytic:
  • Perform waived, moderate, and high-complexity testing in accordance with CLIA regulations
  • Conduct testing on blood and body fluids
  • Ensure quality control procedures are followed and documented
Post-Analytic:
  • Review, verify, and report test results
  • Investigate unexpected or abnormal findings
  • Correlate laboratory data with clinical conditions to determine validity
  • Assist with evaluation and implementation of new instrumentation or methodologies
Additional Duties:
  • Maintain laboratory inventory and reagents
  • Monitor and maintain laboratory equipment (refrigerators, centrifuges, freezers, etc.)
  • Support performance improvement initiatives
  • Assist with training and orientation of laboratory staff and students
  • Promote a safe and compliant laboratory environment
Qualifications
Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology or related science required
    OR
  • Bachelor's degree with certification in a laboratory sub-specialty
    OR
  • Grandfathered as a Medical Technologist under CLIA '88
Certifications (Required):
One of the following:
  • MT(ASCP)
  • CLS (NCA)
  • BB(ASCP), C(ASCP), I(ASCP), H(ASCP), or M(ASCP)
  • Equivalent recognized certification
Experience:
  • Minimum 1+ year of recent Blood Bank experience in an acute care hospital laboratory
    (Non-acute care experience will not be considered.)
