Spiritual Care Program Manager

Employment status: Regular Part-Time, Hourly, Non-Exempt Hours per week: 20 Reports to: Director of Mission Integration

Siloam Health's mission is to share the love of Christ by serving those in need through health care. Our patients come from more than 80 countries and speak over 50 languages. Siloam's approach to medical care provides a unique, interdisciplinary model of whole-person health care that addresses the physical, social, emotional, and spiritual determinants of health. Our staff is anchored by a multicultural primary care team that serves alongside roughly 300 volunteer interpreters, doctors, nurses, and other licensed medical specialists each year to provide comprehensive health care to Nashville's most vulnerable.

What You'll Do

  • Provide compassionate, respectful, direct spiritual care to Siloam's patients from diverse ethnic and faith backgrounds through consultations requested by the clinical team as well as through proactive engagement with patients in clinic
  • Offer ongoing ministry of presence, encouragement, counsel, and prayer with/for staff and volunteers
  • Recruit and maintain a cadre of Spiritual Care Volunteers (SCV) to also provide the above consultations and ministries, with the goal of having a Spiritual Care Volunteer provider available at each location for every shift.
  • Organize and/or conduct periodic spiritual care trainings for patient-facing staff to improve their ability to provide quality spiritual care to patients
  • Lead SCV team to coordinate with church partners, Director of Engagement, Community Health team, Spiritual Care Volunteers, local pastors, and others to assist patients in connecting with local congregations for ongoing spiritual growth.
  • Oversee regular rhythms of prayer for staff and volunteers to include daily weekday morning prayer and First Friday prayer

Program Administration

  • Guide, track, and manage process metrics, quality metrics, and outcome metrics that measure the effectiveness of the spiritual care referral process, the quality of these consultations, and the extent to which spiritual care consultations yield improved outcomes for patients
  • Contribute towards the culture and direction of the organization as a member of the COR Team (Connection, Opportunity, Respect) and by attending Staff and Culture Committee meetings when periodic updates are requested.
  • Manage Siloam's Spiritual Care Volunteer program by:
    • Working with the Director of Engagement, Volunteer Coordinator, and Community Health team to recruit a pool of Spiritual Care Volunteers from current church partners and churches already serving Siloam's patient community
    • Vetting and training all Spiritual Care Volunteers, including pastoral caregivers, intercessors, and spiritual directors and providing regular evaluations of each volunteer.
  • Participate in on-going quality improvement (QI) activities as indicated above

Who We Are Looking For Qualifications

  • Passionate about Christian ministry to the underserved and in full agreement with Siloam's mission and core values
  • Spanish or Arabic language fluency preferred (bilingual)
  • Experience with cross cultural ministry and using interpreters strongly preferred
  • Bachelor's degree required; Masters level training and/or ordination preferred
  • Additional training in chaplaincy and/or behavioral health preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to work within an ecumenical, nondenominational context
